Charles Carver

Charles Nelson Carver, age 84, of Spicer, died Thursday, August 30, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud with his daughters by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 pm on Friday, September 21, at the Spicer American Legion. There will be a time for sharing memories from noon to 1:00 pm, followed by a Masonic Service and military honors. A private interment will be held at a later date at the Spicer City Cemetery.

Charles was born on November 28, 1933, in Lamberton, Minnesota, the son of Cecil and Esther (Dagner) Carver. He moved to Willmar, MN, with his family in 1942 and graduated from Willmar High School in 1951. Charles was a Korean War veteran and served in the United States Air Force, in the Aviation Cadet Program, from 1954 to 1956. He attended St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota. He worked for over 23 years for the Great (Burlington) Northern Railroad in the District Accounting Office in Willmar.
On April 15, 1963, Charles married Margaret Wick in Benson, Minnesota, and they made their home on the north shore of Green Lake at "Quadnine Hill". Charles and Marge hosted an annual 4th of July get together and loved sharing the lake with family and friends. After Marge's retirement in 1993, they began spending the winters at Llano Grande Lake Park in Mercedes, Texas, where they met many wonderful friends. They enjoyed hosting family and friends in Texas, and Charles happily took visitors to Progresso, Mexico, to enjoy shopping followed by lunch and drinks at their favorite restaurant, the Arriba.

Like his father and grandfather before him, Charles was a Master Mason, having been raised at Sharon Lodge #104 in Willmar, and also earned his 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite. He was an active member of the Willmar Area Shrine Club, the Zuhrah Shrine Temple of Minneapolis, and the Spicer American Legion. He was especially proud of the work he did, both in Minnesota and in Texas, on behalf of Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Charles was a devoted husband to Marge for their 48 years of marriage until her death in 2011. In 2012, Charles met a wonderful woman, Darlene Kluver, and his children are very grateful that he was able to enjoy his final years with her. Charles recognized how truly blessed he was to have loved and been loved by two extraordinary women in his lifetime.

Charles is survived by his children Charlie (Heather) of Spicer, Rachel Wolf (Steve Sharstrom) of Willmar, and Rebecca (Robert) Pinske of Spicer. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Hailey, Alexander, and Hunter Wolf, and Austin, Scott, and Jessica Pinske; brothers John (Vicki) Carver of Willmar, MN, Rich (Donna) of Atwater, MN, James (Dotty) of Marshall, MN, and Frank (Betsy) Davis of Cedar Rapids, IA; special friend Darlene Kluver of Carroll, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marge, brothers Cecil and George, sister Martha, and infant twins, Kevin and Kim.
