Lila Evans

Lila K. Evans, 91, of Willmar, died Monday, December 19, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, December 22, at the Assembly of God Church. The interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and at the church one hour prior to the services.

Lila Kristine (Johnson) Evans was born at the family farm south of Belgrade on June 13, 1920, the daughter of Anna (Larson) and Darwin Johnson. She grew up in that area, attended District 10 country school and graduated from Willmar High School in 1939. On October 21, 1942, in Willmar, she was married to Stanley Carl Evans and they made their home in Willmar. They lived their entire 65 years of marriage in Willmar and Minneapolis. Lila was a housewife and had worked in the laundry at Rice Hospital and for Nelsen Laundry for a few years. She was a devout Christian woman and her greatest joy was her 4 grandsons. She had a great love for music; she could play several instruments and delighted her family with her gifted piano skills.

Survived by 1 son; Bruce (and Dolly) Evans of Aberdeen, SD; 4 grandsons; Terry (and Shannon) Evans and their sons, Tanner and Zachary of Warner, SD; Tim (and Wendy) Evans and their daughters, Kiana and Maryn of Aberdeen, SD; Mark Evans of Fargo, ND and his son, Troy Jenson of Gary, SD and Michael Evans of St. Cloud, MN. Also surviving are 2 brothers; James "Bud" (and Helen) Johnson of Eagle Lake, MN and Dean (and Nancy) Johnson of Minneapolis, 1 sister; Laura Lou (and Bill) Sandstrom of Minneapolis, sister-in-law; Opal Johnson of New London, MN and many nieces, nephews, besides other relatives and friends.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Stanley on 8/08/2008), 2 brothers (John Johnson in 1998 and Manfred Johnson in infancy), 3 sisters (Glenda Johnson, Doreen Johnson and Eunice McLouth).
