Alberta Berends

Alberta E. Berends, age 82, of Willmar, died Saturday morning, March 8, at Rice Memorial Hospital.

Alberta Elizabeth Berends was born on July 16, 1931, in Renville County, Minnesota, the daughter of Adolph and Rita (Bales) Barber. She grew up and received her education in Renville. In 1951, she was married to Royal Keith Berends and they made their home in California. She was employed in various manufacturing jobs. In 1998, Royal died and in 2010, Alberta moved to Willmar. She enjoyed crocheting, watching movies and going on walks.

She is survived by one son, Michael Berends of Willmar and four siblings, Laura Kmetz of Minneapolis, Anna Scheibe of Washington, Alvina Lalaim of Willmar and Beverley (and Bruce) Raske of Renville, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Mary Hill and Ruth Kaner and one brother, Frank Barber in W.W. II.
