Alice Damhof, age 96, of Willmar, formerly of the Roseland area, died Friday evening, January 6, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.
Services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, January 12, at Roseland Reformed Church in Roseland, Minnesota. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg. Visitation will be 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and at the church one hour prior to the services. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice or the Bethesda Foundation.
Alice was born on August 20, 1915 on the family farm in rural Renville, Minnesota, the daughter of Arnt and Annie (Santjer) Ahrenholz. On February 18, 1937, she was married to Louis Walter Damhof at her family home. They farmed together near Roseland and after retiring from the farm they worked for many years at Nelsen Laundry. They moved to Willmar in the late 1970's and since 2009, Alice has resided at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home. Alice loved her Lord, her church and cherished the time she spent with family and friends.
She is survived by three children: Janice (David) Poortvliet of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Warren (Jan) Damhof of Prinsburg and Audrey (Paul) Nelsen of Willmar. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Karen (Ann Lowry) Poortvliet, Sandra (James Gibbs, Jr.) Poortvliet-Beeching, Wade (Rachel) Damhof, Jina (Joel) Ruschen, Christopher (Lisa) Damhof, Eric (Brenda) Nelsen, Emily Nelsen, and Addy Nelsen; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Brouwer of Clara City, Johanna (Adrian) Bouma of Edgerton and Elma Jane (Mally) Smith of Roseville; a brother-in-law: Claude Bulthuis of Willmar and three sisters-in-law: Lilah (Nick) Kleinhuizen of Willmar, Evelyn Damhof of Willmar and Loreen Damhof of Willmar.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother; her husband: Louis in 1997; two brothers: Lubbert and Alfred Ahrenholz; three sisters: Annie Bulthuis, Mary Mulder and Elma Ahrenholz; a stepbrother: George Fuls; and a stepsister: Sadie Ryks.
