Alice M. Martin, age 59, of Raymond, died Tuesday morning, August 21, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, and one hour prior to the service, both at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, at Hope Cemetery in Eagle Bend. Funeral arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Alice Marie Martin was born on February 3, 1953, in Onamia, Minnesota, the daughter of Alvin and Cecelia (Gross) Miers. She grew up in Onamia and graduated from Onamia High School in 1971. On July 12, 1975, Alice was united in marriage to Dale C. Martin. They lived in Minneapolis and moved to the Raymond community in 1979. Alice was most recently employed at Rice Care Center in the housekeeping department.
Alice loved family activities and gatherings. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and crocheting. Alice was strong in her faith. She was a loving mother and loyal friend to many. She put others before herself. Alice now rests in heaven with the angels.
She is survived by her husband: Dale Martin of Raymond; her two children: Sandy (and Robert) Holinka of Worthington and Spencer Martin of Raymond; three grandchildren: Mason, Logan and Evan Holinka. Also surviving are fifteen siblings: Jeanette (and Mel) Peters of Stacy, Bernice (and Jim) Benjamin of Brainerd, Henry (and Jean) Miers of Lino Lakes, Jerome Miers of Schaumberg, IL, Helen Schlegel of Pierz, Willie (and Ann) Miers of Onamia, Mary (and Gary) Stout of Anoka, Anna (and Keith) DeChane of Deerwood, Theresa Eide of Shakopee, Jim (and Bonnie) Miers of Stanchfield, Paul (and Margaret) Miers of Anoka, Susan (and Tim) Oie of Annandale, Duane Miers of Brainerd, Lucy Miers of Little Falls, and Greg (and Sonja) Miers of Taylors Falls; besides several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law: Pat Miers; brothers-in-law: Nick SanNicolas and Bud Schlegel; and a nephew: John Acosta.
