Alma Evelyn Nelson was born March 26, 1912, in Sunburg, the daughter of Lewis and Louise (Erickson) Bendickson. She grew up and received her education in the Sunburg community and was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. On May 21, 1932, she married Eddie L. Nelson and they lived and farmed north of Pennock. In 1950, Alma began working at the Willmar State Hospital, where she managed the canteen for over 26 years. Following Eddie's death in 1975, Alma spent 13 winters in Texas with her special friend, Jean Haug, and spent her summers at Norway Lake, where she loved to fish. She later moved to Sunrise Village in Willmar and most recently was a resident of Bethesda Pleasantview and Heritage Center Nursing Homes. Alma was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake and was a volunteer at Rice Memorial. Alma loved to dance, play cards and spend time with her family. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (and James) Ogland of Wayzata; her granddaughter, Summer (and Robert) Taylor of Stuart, Florida; and her great-granddaughter, Savannah Taylor. Also surviving are a special nephew, Dennis (and Rachel) Bendickson of Pennock and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie in 1975; four brothers and six sisters.
