Alveda B. Myhre, age 93, of Hawick, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, October 15, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday October 22, at Peterson Brother Funeral Home in Willmar, Minnesota. Interment will be in the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. (www.petersonbrothers.com)
Alveda Barbara Myhre was born on October 21, 1922 in Sanborn, Minnesota, the daughter of Adelheid E. (Weber) and George L. Kosel. She grew up in that area and received her education. On September 10, 1940 she married Harold Madsen at Springfield and they made their home in Springfield for a short time. In about 1945 they moved to the New London/Spicer area. Alveda worked at AMPI in Paynesville for several years, Rice Hospital in Willmar doing housekeeping and later at the Willmar State Hospital also doing housekeeping. Harold died on August 12, 1973. On May 22, 1981 Alveda married David Myhre in Pine City, Minnesota and they made their home in Spicer. After David and Alveda were married they traveled during the winter months to various places until they decided to spend the winters in Arizona. Due to Dave's failing health they made their year round home in Hawick. She began doing volunteer work at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Paynesville during the summer until 2002. Alveda loved being with family and friends and took pride in the achievements they made. She enjoyed crosswords, Cryptoquip, reading and many other hobbies.
She is survived by three sons, Harold (and Peggy) Madsen of Hawick, Richard (and Julie) Madsen of Willets, California, and David Madsen of Hawick; three daughters, Sharon Nelson of Shell Lake, Wisconsin, Barbara Madsen of Eden Prairie and Debra (and Lyle) Nelson of Brooten; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Madsen of Seattle, Washington, and Vicky Madsen of Willmar; and one step-son, Wesley (and Marsha) Myhre of Minneapolis. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Linus Suess of Hector, besides other relatives and friends.
Alveda was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sons, Arvid and Gary Madsen; one grandson, Zebulan Madsen; two brothers, Leonard and Herb Kosel; and seven sisters, Lucinda Summers, Dorothy, Ann Weidl, Mildred Foster, Ellen Glimpse, Iolanda Suess and Henrietta Blomquist.
