Alvin Ross Bloom, age 77, of Willmar, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, Nov. 28, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, Nov. 28, at Morton City Cemetery in Morton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Alvin was born on March 16, 1931, on the family farm near Franklin, Minnesota, the son of Emery and Daisy (Grimes) Bloom. He grew up and received his education in Franklin and became engaged in farming. From 1952 to 1954, Alvin served in the U.S. Army - Airborne division, stateside during the Korean War. He received the National Defence Service Medal and continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserves. Alvin has lived in several communities throughout central Minnesota and has lived in Willmar for the past 5 years. He has been employed in the farming industry his entire life. Alvin enjoyed word puzzles, visiting with people, watching professional wrestling on television and riding his bike.
He is survived by his special friend, Jeanne Pitts of Hawick; two sisters, Ethel (and LaVerne) Miller of Hector and Jeanne Bloom of Richfield and one brother-in-law, Floyd Lothert of Morton; besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Melvin Bloom; and one sister, Della Lothert.
