Annette "Nettie" Marie Buer, 94, of Atwater, died Wednesday morning, September 5, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 10, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 9, at Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church are preferred.
Annette "Nettie" Marie Buer was born December 10, 1917, in Atwater, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles and Annie (Anderson) Berg. She grew up in Atwater, was baptized and confirmed at the First Methodist Church in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School in 1935. Nettie attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis and later returned to Atwater and worked at Cederstrom Coffee Shop. On June 24, 1939, Nettie was married to the love of her life, Martin H. Buer. They made their home in Atwater where she worked as a clerk at Holm Brothers Hardware Store for several years and helped on the family farm. She was also a devoted homemaker. Nettie was a member of the Home Extension and Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aide, quilting and Altar Guild. She and Martin enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. They spent several winters in Florida and Arizona.
She is survived by her husband, Martin of Atwater; four sons, Dwaine (and Darlene) Buer of Atwater, Paul David (and Janie) Buer of Willmar, Gary (and Cindy) Buer of Glendale, AZ., and Steve (and Kathy) Buer of Dunnellon, FL.; 17 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Irene Berg and seven brothers, Melvin, Leslie, Wallace, Harold, Elmer, LeRoy and John Arnold.
