Arlene M. Arnzen, age 79, of Willmar, died Tuesday evening, January 30, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, MN.
Funeral services will beheld on Friday, February 2, 10:30 A.M. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony J. Stubeda officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A parish prayer service will be held on Thursday 6:30 P.M. at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home and at the church prior to the service. Memorials to the Rice Hospice are preferred.
She is survived by one son, Wayne Arnzen (and special friend, Carol Perkins) of Grand Marais; four daughters, Mary Johnson of Woodland, WA., Linda (and Steven) Gort of Spicer, Paula McDonald of Lakeland, FL., Bobbi (and David) Lohn of New London, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Arlene Arnzen was born on February 5, 1927, in St. Cloud, the daughter of Pearl (Joblonski) and Louis Louden. She grew up in the St. Cloud community and graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1945. She worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. On May 18, 1949, in St. Cloud, she was married to Harold "Harry" Arnzen. That year they moved to Willmar. She was employed as an administrative assistant at the Willmar Chamber of Commerce, a bookkeeper and sales lady at the Lakeland Nursery. She was the first woman to be elected to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, served on the Kandiyohi County Family Service Board, the Willmar Nutrition Site Board, the Willmar Golf Club Board, President of the Women's Golf Assn., was a volunteer at the Red Cross Bloodmobile, a member of the Befriender Ministry Program at St. Mary's Church, and a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxilliaries. She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband (Harry Arnzen in 1982), one sister, (Betty Wallace) and two brothers, (Dick and James Louden).
