Arlene L. Curtis, 80, of Willmar, died Friday morning, May 4, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 8, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, May 7, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice.
Arlene L. Curtis was born on December 17, 1931, in Spicer, Minnesota, the daughter of Arnold and Lillian (Anderson) Christenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Spicer and graduated from Willmar High School in 1950. On June 17, 1950, Arlene was united in marriage to Nick T. Curtis and they made their home in Willmar. In the 1950's, Arlene was employed at Bell Telephone. In the 1960's, she worked as a receptionist and secretary for the Linder Farm Network. In the 1970's, Arlene was employed by the Willmar School District. She has been a long time member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Willmar and St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Willmar Area Shrine Club Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Does.
Arlene loved to play bridge and was a member of numerous local bridge clubs. She enjoyed traveling with Nick throughout the United States (especially Alaska) and Canada and with her friends to Europe. They also enjoyed spending many winters in Harlingen, TX and Apache Junction, AZ.
She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Nick; two daughters, Stephanie Curtis of Willmar and Kimberly (and Mel) Curtis-Alvarado of Willmar; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Jerome (and Kathy) Christenson of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Grace and one brother, Leonard.
