Arley Rossell

June 2, 1918 — April 5, 2008

Arley G. Rossell, age 89, of Atwater, died Saturday afternoon, April 5, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Immanual Lutheran Church in Atwater with Rev. Daniel Belgum-Blad officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Atwater Funeral Home.

Arley Gustaf Rossell was born June 2, 1918, in Atwater, Minnesota, the son of Hjalmer and Anna (Peterson) Rossell. He grew up in the rural Atwater community, was baptized and confirmed at Immanual Lutheran Church in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School in 1936. He later graduated from the Minneapolis Business College and worked for Strong Motor Company in Atwater. On February 22, 1941, he married Gladys Swan and they lived and farmed south of Atwater. He also worked as a rural mail carrier for 40 years. Arley was a lifelong member of Immanual Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also served 13 years on the Atwater School Board. He enjoyed farming and manicuring his homestead.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Atwater; two sons, Roger (and Janet) Rossell and Larry (and Sheila) Rossell, both of Atwater; four grandchildren, Nick (and Melissa) Rossell, Emily (and Ryan) Goodsen, Stacy (and Brittany) Rossell, all of Atwater and Matthew Rossell of Willmar; six great-grandchildren; Dylan and Jaylen Rossell, Brittney and Ashtyn Goodsen and Brenden and Ethan Rossell and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Bruce; a brother, Marvin and a sister-in-law, Eunice.
