Arthur "Art" William Lang

Arthur "Art" William Lang, age 89, of Spicer, passed away Friday, July 12, at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, he has been a resident at Bethesda Grand for the past two years. 

A celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, at the Green Lake Bible Camp. A private interment will be held at the Olivia City Cemetery. The Little Crow Ski Team will honor Art at their ski show on Friday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. (the last show of the year).  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Little Crow Ski Team or Green Lake Lutheran Ministries are preferred.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. www.petersonbrothers.com

Art was born on November 29, 1934, on the family farm near Olivia, Minnesota, the son of Frank and Mabel (McDowell) Lang. He received his education in a country school North of Olivia. On February 12, 1955, Art was married to Margaret Louise Kottom. They lived in Renville County and Art worked for several farmers. In 1961, they settled in New Ulm where Art worked for Kraft Foods for over 40 years. He also drove school bus in New Ulm for over 30 years. In 2003 they retired to Green Lake in Spicer. They faithfully attended Tuesday's Table and enjoyed meeting new friends there. Art kept busy as a volunteer for the Willmar Area Food Shelf and worked as shuttle driver for Burlington Northern Railroad, school bus driver with Peterson Bus Service in New London. Art was an avid supporter and volunteer of the Little Crow Ski Team attending practices, shows and traveling with the team to regional competitions.

Art was a fun and energetic person who was always willing to try something new. He had a heart of gold and was always doing unselfish and generous acts of kindness. Art was the FAVORITE UNCLE and has taught hundreds to waterski. 

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two children, Theresa Lang of Shoreview and Daniel (and Pam) Lang of Henderson, Nevada; two grandchildren, Jacqueline (and Brent) Stephenson and Brennan (and Rachel) Lang and two great grandchildren, Colette and Penelope Stephenson. Also surviving are five brothers, Sam (Lila) Lang of Fosston, Bob (Mary Ann) Lang of Plymouth, Gene Lang of Nowthen, LeRoy Lang of Gaylord and David (Lori) Lang of Danube, besides and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey; sisters, Leona, Esther, Lillian, Alice, Nina and Katherine, and son-in-law, Leo Schmeltzer.
