Arthur E. Nelson, age 92, of Atwater, passed away Monday evening, April 8, at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home in Atwater. Interment with military honors will follow at Union Cemetery.

Arthur "Art" Emmanuel Nelson was born on June 2, 1931, in Atwater, Minnesota, the son of Elmer and Verna (Peterson) Nelson. He grew up in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School in 1950. Art enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After his service, he returned to work on the family farm. On February 9, 1963, Arthur was married to Sandra Scott. They lived and farmed in the Atwater community. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post. He enjoyed farming, carpentry, woodworking, playing card games and tinkering with stuff to see how it works.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of Atwater; twin daughters, Shirley Nelson and Sharon Nelson, both of Minneapolis; son, Russell (and Laurie) Nelson of Atwater and daughter, Robin (and Joseph) Traxler of Madison; two granddaughters, Victoria Traxler and Abby Traxler; two step-grandchildren, Andrea Prekker and Aaron Frank; seven great grandchildren, Kylie, Kayden, Kinsley, Audrey, Bennett, Jaxon and Natalie; and one sister, Marie Ann Nelson of Kandiyohi, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Howard, Ronald and Robert.
