Audrey E. Hoffenkamp, 73, of Atwater, died Tuesday, November 6, at her home in rural Atwater.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Audrey Eldora Hoffenkamp was born on January 2, 1939, in Adrian, Minnesota, the daughter of Arthur and Dora (Lindeman) Gertz. She grew up and received her education in Rushmore, Minnesota. On March 18, 1956, Audrey was united in marriage to Harlan R. Hoffenkamp. They moved to rural Atwater to start their life of dairy and crop farming together. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater.
Audrey was an awesome wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She worked on the farm with her husband and was also employed at Promotional Resources in St. Joseph, MN. She enjoyed spending time with the birthday club ladies, the swim club ladies, reading, gardening, going on "girls weekend out" and attending almost all of her children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's events. She was a great listener and loved being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her five children, David (and Cheryl) Hoffenkamp of Atwater, Connie (and Bill) Hemingson of Paynesville, Ricky Hoffenkamp of Atwater, Daniel Hoffenkamp of Hawick and Michelle (and Randy) Weiss of Eden Valley; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Robert (and Sharlyn) Gertz of Louisville, KY., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harlan in 2008.
