Audrey Mae Rudningen, age 94, of Sunburg, passed away Monday morning, January 23, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at West Norway Lake Lutheran Cemetery will be at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Sunburg Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
A Celebration of Life will also be held simultaneously on Saturday, February 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Cowboy Church in Texas, officiated by Pastor Dan Kelly.
Audrey Mae Rudningen was born on July 12, 1928, on the family farm in Kerkhoven Township, Swift County, Minnesota. She was the 2nd oldest of ten children born to Harry and Ella (Gronseth) Lunder. Audrey grew up in the rural Murdock community, was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church and received her education in country school and at Kerkhoven High School. On March 20, 1946, Audrey was united in marriage to DeLoyd Rudningen and they lived and farmed in Norway Lake Township. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and was active in numerous women's church groups. She was also an active member of the former Sunburg V.F.W. Auxiliary and the New London American Legion Auxiliary. Audrey enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, traveling across the United States, dancing and playing card games with her family and friends. Most of all, Audrey enjoyed gatherings with her family.
She is survived by three children, LuAnn Rudningen (Val Roberts) of Kandiyohi, Lyle (Janelle) Rudningen of Clearwater and Donna (Larry) Miller of Spicer; eight grandchildren, Jenny (Darin) Bjork of Sunburg, Scott (Tammy) Rudningen of Sunburg, Germaine (Jason) Lindquist of Brandon, SD., Lynnae (Jason) Lina of Morris, Vanessa (Ross) Henjum, Spicer, Eric (Wendy) Miller of Willmar, Kyle (Amanda) Rudningen of Clearwater and Karin (Aaron) Josephson of Grant; and thirteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings, Harriet Erickson of Monticello, CO., Lowell (Joy) Lunder of Loveland, CO., and Harlow (Helen) Lunder of Little Canada, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, DeLoyd in 1999; one son and daughter in-law, Dean in 2019 and Karen in 2010; six siblings, Arlene Nelson, Lucille Wiegman, Carole Swanson, Norma Fox, Joan Swanson and Laurel Lunder in infancy; and brother-in-law, Omar Rudningen and sister-in-law, Arlene Rudningen.
