Audrey I. Sondrol, age 93, of Sunburg, passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 22, at CentraCare Therapy Suites in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Interment will be at West Norway Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Hope Lutheran Church and will also continue for one hour prior to the service. Audrey Inez Sondrol was born on October 31, 1928, on the family farm in Lake Johanna Township, Pope County, Minnesota, the daughter of Sigvald and Elsie Christine (Medalen) Hoff. She grew up in the Brooten community, was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and received her education at the District #56 School. On June 22, 1946, Audrey was married to Clifford Sondrol at the Sunburg Free Lutheran Parsonage. They made their home of Clifford’s family farm and she assisted with the farm chores. In 1960, she went to work at Jennie-O Foods, retiring in 1988 after 28 years. Following retirement, Audrey and Clifford enjoyed spending their winters down in Texas. Audrey has been a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church. Audrey made her famous brown bread for many years, distributing to many people and in one years time she made 435 loaves. Besides baking, her hobbies included embroidery, quilting, traveling and gardening. She also enjoyed helping the elderly in the Sunburg area with running errands such as getting groceries, cleaning, doing laundry, etc...
She is survived by four children, James (and Nancy) Sondrol of Sunburg, Charles (and Mary) Sondrol of Sunburg, Shirley (and Mark) Tollefson of Lucan and Allen (and Brenda) Sondrol of Sunburg; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Ronald Hoff of Brooten; three sisters, Cora Myhre of Willmar, Glenda Paulson of Brooten and Marilyn Zilmer of Babbitt; and one sister-in-law, Sandra Hoff of Inver Grove Heights, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford in 1999; one daughter, JoAnn in 2000; one sister, Gilma Olson; and five brothers, Clifford, Oral, Willard, Stanley and Kenneth Hoff.
