Audrey E. Strom, age 83, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, Dec. 30, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, January 4, at the First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Thursday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and at the church one hour prior to the service. www.petersonbrothers.com
Audrey Elaine Strom was born on November 1, 1929, on the family farm in Lake Andrew Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of Chester and Claries (Thorson) Hovey. She grew up and received her education in the New London & Willmar communities. On November 17, 1947, Audrey was united in marriage to Melvin B. Strom. They made their home in Willmar where she worked as a homemaker. She was a past member of the First Covenant Church in Willmar. In 1945 Audrey was the first Kaffe Fest Princess in Willmar.
Audrey was kind, loving and unselfish. She enjoyed canning, baking, embroidery and being with her family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Charlene (and Bruce) Schroeder of Grasston, Pat (and Lawrence) Wyman of Maple Plain and Mary (and Richard) Peterson of Willmar; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is a son-in-law, Robert Linn of Coon Rapids and one sister, Charlotte (and Fred) Thomas of Georgia, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin in 1995; one daughter, Sherry Linn and two sisters, Thelma Maness and Charlene Hovey in infancy.
