Bernice O. Anderson, age 94, of Willmar, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, at Green Lake Lutheran Church in rural Spicer. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. Memorials are preferred to the Living Hope Broadcast at Green Lake Lutheran Church or Rice Hospice.
Bernice Olive Anderson was born July 13, 1915, in Minot, North Dakota, to Andrew and Anna (Nelson) Hegreberg. In 1920, her family moved to Green Lake Township. She attended District 51 School and Willmar High School. On December 19, 1935, she married Alloys Anderson at his parents' home. They made their home in rural Spicer, where they farmed until 1954 when they moved into Spicer and Alloys became co-owner of Spicer Oil Company. Alloys died in 1987. In 1999, Bernice moved to Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar. She was a life member of Green Lake Lutheran Church and was very active in the church. She was a member and past-president of the Women's Missionary Society and a member of the sewing circle. She loved being with family and friends and enjoyed cooking and baking.
She is survived by her six children: Betty (and Carl) Deisting of Willmar, Ranleigh (and Julie) Anderson of Willmar, Robert Anderson of Minneapolis, James Anderson of Minneapolis, Kenton Anderson of Sunburg and Kay (and Ed) Rutkowski of Baltimore, Maryland; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Alloys in 1987; six brothers: Theodore Hegreberg, Norman Hegreberg, Arthur Hegreberg, Stanley Hegreberg, Clarence Hegreberg and an infant brother; and four sisters: Ida Rudbeck, Manda Bratland, Norah Hegreberg and Selma Harvey.
