Betty Ann Dubrosky, age 96, of Watkins and formerly of Willmar, passed away Monday afternoon, November 4, at her residence under hospice care.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.  Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Betty Ann Dubrosky was born on December 18, 1927, in Hope, North Dakota, the daughter of Palmer and Emma (Galde) Voldness. She grew up and received her education in Pickert, North Dakota, Thief River Falls and Minneapolis. During the early 1940’s, Betty lived in various communities throughout the State of Washington, working in the shipyards and later at Boeing Aircraft. On June 19, 1946, Betty was united in marriage to Lavern “Smokey” Dubrosky. They lived in Illinois prior to moving to Willmar in 1948. Betty worked hard as a homemaker, raising her five children while Smokey worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Betty was an active member of Vinje Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed being active in bowling leagues throughout her entire life. Betty’s hobbies included socializing with family and friends around bonfires, cooking dinners for her family, dancing everywhere, and celebrating many special events and holidays with family. She loved all her grandchildren and cherished the times spent with them. Betty will be best remembered for always being full of energy and having a huge smile on her face. 

She is survived by two daughters, Melody Garding of Watkins and Sheryl Krueger of Atwater; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Marilyn Shackelton of Virginia and a sister-in-law, Jean Voldness of Silver Bay, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lavern “Smokey” in 2009; two sons, Palmer and Kim Dubrosky; one daughter, Devone Anderson; one grandson, Robin Garding; one brother, Gordon Voldness; one sister, LaDonna (and William) Leese and two sons-in-law, LeRoy Garding & Jerry Krueger Sr.
