Elizabeth "Betty" Halterman, age 78, of Willmar, died Monday evening, March 15, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 20, at the Church of St. Mary. Interment will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, March 19, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Betty was born on August 5, 1931, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Poferl) Martins. She grew up in Willmar and received her education in the Willmar schools. On March 28, 1953, in Monterey Park, California, Betty was united in marriage to Richard L. Halterman and they made their home in Willmar. She was employed for a while at the Ice Cream Bar, Woolworths and later at Hallmark Card Shop in downtown Willmar. Betty was a member of the Church of St. Mary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, bird watching and traveling with her husband over the years.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of Willmar; three children, Richard Jr. (and Ester) Halterman of Montevideo, Michael (and Dianne) Halterman of Litchfield and Dawn (and James) Bombeck of Hutchinson; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Buzz (and Judy) Martins of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
