Beverly G. Dilger-Jensen, age 82, of Willmar, died Thursday evening, June 19, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be at a later date at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Beverly Grace Jenkins, daughter of the late James Edward Jenkins and his wife, Marion Leona (nee) Thysell , was born September 2, 1931, in Bismarck, North Dakota. She attended rural schools through the sixth grade, and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1949. She entered the St. Alexius Hospital school of nursing on June 3, 1949, graduating and becoming a registered nurse in June of 1952. She worked in a doctor's office in Bismarck until her marriage to Adam Dilger, April 9, 1953. Moving to Detroit, Michigan, she worked as an industrial nurse, and in July of 1953 they moved to Seattle, Washington where she worked in hospitals and nursing homes. They moved back to Bismarck in May of 1959 where she worked at a hospital in Bismarck as an RN. In 1963 Beverly attended the Trinity Hospital School of Anesthesia in Minot. N.D., from which she graduated as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in March of 1965. She returned to Bismarck and worked in the anesthesia department of St. Alexis Hospital until August of 1966. She moved to Willmar, Minnesota in August of 1966 working in the Anesthesia Department of Rice Memorial Hospital until October of 1980. On April 9, 1981 Beverly was united in marriage to Richard A. Hansen. They moved to Renton, Washington where she worked at the Renton Medical Center until July, 1988, when they moved back to Willmar. Her husband Richard died on April 3, 1997.
On April 14, 2007 Beverly was united in marriage to Pastor Frederik V. Jensen in Willmar, Minnesota. Together with her husband, she has resided in a number of communities in the upper mid-west where her husband has served as "interim pastor". Beverly had a number of hobbies including: playing the violin in Bismarck and Willmar community orchestras. She has been a quilter, supplying quilts for family members, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; the RN Club. She was a volunteer at the Adult Day Care Center in Willmar and at Bethel Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children: Rebecca Dilger Chapman (Tom deceased) of Stafford, VA. Paul E. Dilger, of Rockland, ME. Donald James (Trudy) Dilger of Manchester, IA.. and Pastor Frederik R. Jensen (Dawn) of Minnetonka, MN. Rhonda Lee Anderson (Dean) of Waterford, WI. Pastor David P. Hudak (Lois)) of Belle Vista, AK. on her husband's side.
Her surviving siblings include: James B. Jenkins (Wilma) of Houghton, MI. Patsy R. Jenkins (Albert) Heinitz of Iowa City; David Jenkins (Sandra) of Wilton, ND.; Also surviving sister-in-law, Arlene Jensen of Madison, WI; and sister-in-law, Margaret Jensen Rasmussen of Lombard, Illinois. In addition she is survived by 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her granddaughters include: Tara Chapman McFaden; Amy Chapman and Lisa Chapman Daley of Stafford, VA. and Christine Dilger Foster, (Travis) of Willmar, MN.; and her great-grandchildren include Delaney and Mathias McFaden of Stafford , VA., and Ava and Greyson Foster of Willmar, MN.
Her step grandchildren include Ross (Mary) Jensen of Council Bluff, Iowa; Tyler (Jena)r Jensen of Brooklyn Park, MN.; and Patrick Jensen of Minnetonka, MN. Timothy Hudak of Washington, DC., and Stephen Hudak (Erin) of Mukwonago, Wisconsin; and Ryan and Marc Anderson of Waterford, Wisconsin. Her step great-grandchildren include Hannah, Christian, and Hayden Jensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Alexia and Leo Jensen of Brooklyn Park, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lt. Col. Tom Jenkins; son-in-law, Sgt. Maj. Thomas Chapman; niece Karen Heinitz Bennet, and her husband's daughter, Marcia Lynn Jensen Hudak.
