Burton C. Flann, age 88 of Willmar and formerly of Lake Lillian, died Friday, Oct. 28, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar. Interment will be at the Lake Lillian Community Cemetery. Burton Charles Flann was born on Nov. 7, 1922 to Charles and Cornelia (Otterness) Flann in Lake Lillian. He grew up in the Lake Lillian area, attending country school and graduating from Bird Island High School in 1941. In 1945, he married Betty Sundin and together they farmed in the Lake Lillian area and raised their 4 children. Burton also was a sheet metal worker and Pioneer Seed salesman. He was active in his church in Lake Lillian, and also served for a time on the Youth for Christ board. In 1991, he retired and moved to Willmar where he was a member of the Assembly of God Church. After retirement they spent the winter months in Texas and Arizona.
At a young age some of Burtons hobbies included playing town team baseball for Lake Lillian, horseshoes and boxing. His most recent activities would be gardening and golfing. Burton enjoyed being with family and friends. He cherished his children, grandchildren and especially the little great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, and by children; Larry (& Nancy) Flann of Sun City, Arizona, Charles (& Mariam) Flann of Bemidji, Marcia (& Paul) Dekoski of The Villages, Florida, Robert Flann of Willmar, and 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Myron Flann of Lake Lillian and sisters three Gladys Bjur, Donna Mae Scott, and Maige Erickson, all of Lake Lillian, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Curtis, Newell, and Howard; one sister, Verle Wright, and an infant brother and sister.
