Calmer J. Deeney, age 87, of Willmar, died Friday, May 29, at Sunnyview Assisted Living in Atwater.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar with Rev. Beverly Crute officiating. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Calmer John Deeney was born April 5, 1922, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the son of Barney and Pearl (Smith) Deeney. He grew up and received his education in the Black River Falls community. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps for a year and then worked as a farm laborer in Wisconsin. He then worked for the Johns Manville Company in Waukegan, Illinois and at other manufacturing plants in Chicago, Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Spokane, Washington. In 1960, he moved to Willmar and worked as a machine operator for Hanson Silo Company until his retirement in 1984.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph Deeney and Eugene Deeny; and a sister, Doris Carey.
