Calvin S. Robnik, age 53, of Willmar and formerly of New London, died Monday, December 26, from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Jordan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, January 2, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Calvin Spencer Robnik was born on April 16, 1963, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Spencer and Judith (Pade) Robnik. He was baptized at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Minneapolis and in 1970, moved to Willmar with his family. Calvin was confirmed at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Willmar, graduated from Willmar High School in 1981 and from the Willmar Vo-Tech Sales and Marketing Program in 1984. On August 11, 1984, Calvin was united in marriage to Kimberly Ann Fostervold and they made their home in New London. In 1985, Calvin began employment with Swenson Motor Company in car sales and then in the service department. In 2002, Calvin along with business partners, Larry Mehr and Tony Salonek, founded Willmar Auto Sales and Service. Calvin was also involved in other business ventures. Just recently, Calvin and Kimberly were divorced. Calvin was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed visiting with his customers and spending time on the lake with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Calvin was always willing to help anyone in a time of need.
He is survived by his children, Matthew (and Melissa) Robnik of Atwater and Tracy Robnik of Kandiyohi; three grandchildren, Maxwell, Kylee and Bentley and his former wife, Kimberly Robnik of New London. Also surviving are his parents, Spencer and Judith Robnik of Bayfield, WI.; and four siblings, Cynthia (and Brad) Herding of Watertown, SD., Craig (and Michelle) Robnik of Prairieville, LA., Charlene Robinson of Albany, OR., and Carlton (and Lindy) Robnik of Maple Grove; besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Cristen; and his grandparents, Anton and Ida Pade and Louis and Lillian Robnik.
