Carol D. Denekamp, age 81, of Willmar, passed away on Saturday morning, Mar. 21, at the Arbor Oaks Assisted living center in Andover, MN.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com
Carol Darlene Denekamp was born on April 24, 1938 in Kerkoven, MN; the daughter of Axel and Selma (Nelson) Fridlund. She grew up and received her education in Willmar and later attended Stewarts School of Hair Styling in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1959 Carol was united in marriage to James E. Denekamp and while James served in the US Army, Air Force and Navy, they lived in South Dakota, Minnesota, California, Rhode Island and Connecticut. In 1976 Carol and her family moved back to Willmar, where Carol worked at Pamida for several years and then worked for Presbyterian Family Foundation as a Caregiver for 18 years, before retiring. Carol’s hobbies included sewing clothes for her family, multiple crafts, playing bingo, going to garage sales and spending time with her close girlfriends, Judy, Donna, Gervais, Janet and Sandy.
She is survived by three children, Kim Larsen of Willmar, Kevin Denekamp of Andover and Karla (Jeff) Hanson of Coon Rapids; four grandchildren, Joshua (Kristi) Larsen, Chelsi Walter, Taylor Woods and Jake Hanson and four great grandchildren; Joseph & Logan Smith and Christian & Jenna Larsen.
