Carolyn Gilbertson

Carolyn K. Gilbertson, 63, of Willmar, died Monday, September 27, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Willmar.

Carolyn Kay Gilbertson was born on July 22, 1947, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Donald and Alice (Crane) Alexander. She grew up in Sanborn and Vesta and in 1965, graduated from Willmar High School. On January 2, 1977, Carolyn was married to Wallace "Wally" A. Gilbertson and they made their home in the Willmar community. In 1982, they became separated. In 1987, Carolyn graduated from Southwest State University with a degree in accounting. She was employed by Reigstad Roofing Company in accounting and later employed at various Willmar businesses and enjoyed working with people. Carolyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active with the area Girl Scouts. She enjoyed reading, golfing and being with her family and friends. She was an active volunteer with community projects, mission trips and the Willmar Area Food Shelf.

She is survived by three daughters: Carrie Sharp (and Rob Willis) of New London, Megan (and Shawn) Klaphake of Belgrade and Bridget Gilbertson (and Shaun Mack) of Yellowstone, WY; and five grandchildren: Tesla, Isaac, Chayce, Austin and Paige. Also surviving are three brothers: James (and Sheryl) Alexander of Roseville, Charles (and Jill) Alexander of Willmar and Keith Alexander of Willmar; and three sisters, Mary (and Harold) Mielke of Pennock, Louise (and Mike) Santangelo of Anchorage, AK, and Donnajean (and Kenneth) Knight of Roseville, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her separated husband: Wally; and a nephew, Trae Mielke.
