Carroll Evenson

Carroll Urain Evenson, 86, passed away Monday, July 7, at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing
Home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Dean Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m.
on Friday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Carroll was born on July 23, 1921, in Arctander Township, to Helmer and Lydia (Lindgren) Evenson. Carroll grew up on the family farm, the oldest of eleven children. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1942 to 1944. On July 17, 1953, he married Mildred Syverson. They lived in Minot, North Dakota for a short time and then moved to Willmar where they owned and operated a small cafe and service station. In later years, Carroll became a self-employed carpenter. He also served as head usher at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar for over 30 years and served on the Kandiyohi Sheriffs Reserve for 35 years. In 2001 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and in 2004 moved to Rice Care Center and later to Pleasantview Nursing Home.

He is survived by two children, Simone (and David) Rambow of Cologne and Grayson Evenson of Minot, ND; four grandchildren, Kyle, Kory and, Katelyn Rambow and Bronson Evenson. Also surviving are two brothers, Myron and Ludean Evenson; six sisters, Larraine Lee, June Lee, Avis (and Eldon) Carlson, Francine (and Chuck) Swenson, Faith Skindelien and Maverine (and Gordy) Anderson and many nieces, nephews and friends. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred in February 2007; one brother, Harland Evenson and one sister, Charlene Lindburg.
