Charlene "Penny" Lynn Johnson

Charlene "Penny" Lynn Johnson, age 59, of Willmar, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, at her residence.

A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.  Fellowship with friends will continue from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, at the Eagle's Club in downtown Willmar.  A private interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Penny was born on September 11, 1964, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Lloyd "Bud" and Esther (Luitjens) Johnson.  She grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1983.  In 1987, Penny was married to Mark Quam.  They made their home in Willmar and later divorced.  She worked in food service for many years at Kennedy Elementary School and was most recently employed at Bethesda in Willmar.  Penny enjoyed cooking, canning foods and being with all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children, Jessica Quam (and friend, Jason) of Willmar, Ryan Quam (and friend, Carly) of Willmar, Lindsey (and Nick) Rayman of Bloomington, Samantha Johnson (and friend, Roderick) of Seaforth and Noah Johnson (and friend, Amber) of Willmar; eleven grandchildren and two sisters, Kathy (and Mike) Slavick of Ft. Collins, CO., and Marcia (and Galen) Sylvester of Kimball; besides other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Madeline Sanchez in 2016.
