Clara Dunlavy

Clara Dunlavy, age 96, of Raymond, died Friday evening, April 10, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m . Tuesday, April 14, at St. John's Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Clara Etta Dunlavy was born September 10, 1918, in Raymond, Minnesota, the daughter of Paul and Ida (Juettner) Schueler. She grew up in the rural Raymond community, was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and attended District 65 Sunnyside School. On September 4, 1940, she married Kenneth Dunlavy and lived and farmed on the family farm southeast of Raymond. In 1989, they moved from the farm into Raymond.

Clara was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was active in altar guild and the women's organizations. She was also active with Home Extension. She enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, embroidery, and crocheting. Clara always had the coffee pot on and goodies on hand. She loved entertaining, visiting and playing cards with family and friends.

She is survived by three children, Sharon (and Darwin) Heida of Raymond, Myron (and Marilyn) Dunlavy of Willmar, and Linda (and John) Vreeman of Maple Grove; seven grandchildren, Terri Morrow, David (and Angie) Heida, Jodi Heida, Sara (and Josh) Hohlen, Tim (and Melissa) Dunlavy, Dan (and Sandra) Vreeman, and Jeff (and Amber) Vreeman; seventeen great-grandchildren, Hunter, Carter, and Makaela Morrow, Ashley and Jordan Heida, Lilah Hohlen, Joe (and Rachel) Dunlavy and their daughter Claire, Laura Dunlavy, Brennan, Paige, and Taylor Vreeman, Ethan Torgerson, Alexis Kruger, Alyssa, Addison, Tyler, and Drew Vreeman; two sisters-in-law, Reika Schueler and Lola Schueler; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth in 2008; six brothers, Arthur, Erwin, Herbert, Kurt, Paul, and Oscar; and five sisters, Martha Schueler, Emma Holtz, Evelyn Peterson, Gertrude McLane, and Verna Loge.
