Cleon Norman Everson, age 60, of Dawson, formerly of Willmar, died early Monday morning, September 6, at his residence. He died peacefully in his sleep.
A private burial will be at East Irving Mission Cemetery, rural Paynesville, on Tuesday, September 14. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home of Willmar.
Cleon Norman Everson was born on January 5, 1961, in Paynesville, MN to Norman and Zelda (Engh) Everson. Due to an accident as a toddler, he became a resident of Glacier Ridge Training Center, Willmar, in 1973. In 1995 he moved to MNSOCS Lakeland group home and worked at Crossroads Day Achievement Center in Willmar for many years, keeping busy with various jobs. In 2015 he began activities at Kandiworks in Atwater. Due to an illness in 2019, he became a resident of Divine House, Dawson.
Cleon was easy going and friendly and had a wonderful laugh. He loved country music, car rides, and sweets. At home he often had a magazine in hand and enjoyed watching The Price is Right.
He is survived by his father, Norman Everson of Paynesville; sisters, Cyndi (Bob) Johnson of Litchfield, Denise (Ron) Fyle of South Haven, and Stephanie Good of Paynesville; brother, Loren Everson of Willmar; and brother-in-law, Richard Kalkbrenner of Paynesville. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and will be missed by many health and social workers as well as friends who provided care and companionship throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Zelda; sister, Lisa Kalkbrenner; one nephew; one niece; and grandparents.
