Clifford Olson

Clifford V. Olson, age 87, of Willmar, died Saturday morning, August 23, at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Clifford Vernon Olson was born on February 1, 1921, in New London, Minnesota, the son of Ingvard and Josephine (Larson) Olson. He grew up in Kandiyohi, was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Evangelical Lutheran Church and graduated from Willmar High School in 1939. In December of 1940, Clifford was united in marriage to Muriel V. Klint. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II in the European Theater. Following his discharge, they lived in Minnesota, Montana and moved to Minneapolis in 1952. Clifford was employed as a truck driver for Gopher State Oil Company for 20 years, retiring in 1972. In 1973, they moved to Willmar and was employed part time driving truck at Wonderalls and Nelson International. He was a member of Tripolis Lutheran Church. Clifford enjoyed yardwork, gardening, especially tomatoes and helping Muriel make lefse.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel of Willmar; two sons, Joey (and Joan) Olson of Minneapolis and Klint (and Sherri) Olson of Willmar; one daughter, Carolyn Loftus of Austin, TX.; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also surviving is one brother, Gene (and Carolee) Olson of Willmar and two sisters, Evelyn Gable and Ardis Johnson, both of Placerville, CA., besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dennis and Daryl; one sister, Harriet DeVries and two brothers, LeRoy and Kenneth.
