Clinton O. Ahl, age 80, of Atwater, died Friday evening, February 27, at Copperleaf Senior Living Community in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater with Rev. Grant O. Fischer officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 5- 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the Atwater Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Masonic Lodge Service and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice.
Clinton Oscar Ahl was born October 18, 1928, in Bird Island, the son of Oscar and Lena (Binger) Ahl. He grew up and attended school in the Bird Island community. In 1947, he moved to California. On October 30, 1949, he married Louise Schweer. They lived in Redwood City, CA, Ft. Jones, CA, and Newark, CA. Clinton worked in masonry construction and later owned and operated a Shell service station. Clinton and Louise moved to Diamond Lake near Atwater in 1980. Clinton was a member of the Cement Masons' Local 300 Union for over 60 years. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. He enjoyed cooking and watching football. He also loved fishing and taught all of his children and grandchildren how to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; a son, William Ahl of Willmar; two daughters, Julie Woltjer of Atwater and Linise (and James) Copeland of Atwater; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis "Red" Ahl of Willmar and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard; and five sisters, Mary, Tena, Tillie, Ruth and Lorraine.
