Coe Meyer, age 79, of Willmar, passed away Thursday morning, February 3, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 9, at the First Baptist Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, February 8, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Coe Meyer was born on March 13, 1931, in Raymond, Minnesota, the son of Fobbe and Martha (Woltjer) Meyer. He grew up in the Raymond community and graduated from Raymond High School in 1952. During high school, he worked at the Skelly service station and at Jennie-O Foods. In 1953, Coe was united in marriage to Ramona Leaf. They made their home in Willmar and started a family, with two boys. (Lonnie and Steve) In 1961, Coe married Dorie (Fuoss) Klavetter, together they had two children. (Brenda and Jeff) Coe also helped raise Dorie's other three children, Barbara, Ricky and Thomas. Coe was employed at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center for over 39 years as a human service technician, retiring in 1992. Meanwhile, he also worked part-time at J.C. Penny's in downtown Willmar and as a Milk Man for Oak Grove Dairy. While working his hourly jobs, he also kept busy during his off hours cutting down trees for local home owners and businesses. This was Coe's true passion. He also served as a foster car provider for many individuals throughout the 70's & 80's. Coe was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his three children, Steven (Mary) Meyer of Atwater, Brenda (Dwight) Hubers of Willmar and Jeff (Julie) Meyer of Pelican Rapids; three step-children, Barb (Bruce) Isaacson of Kandiyohi, Rick (Sue) Klavetter of Willmar and Tom (Sue) Klavetter of Spicer; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren, and a special friend Anne Miller of Willmar. . Also surviving are one brother, Jimmy Meyer of Delano and two sister-in-laws, Delores Meyer of Willmar and Lois Meyer of Willmar and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 12 year old son, Lonnie and three brothers, Bobby Meyer, Eppo "Bud" Meyer and Johnny Meyer of Willmar.
