Connie J. Sweere, age 53, of Spicer, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 13th, at her home in Spicer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, August 16, at Cross Roads Community United Methodist Church near Spicer with Rev. Jan Redman and Rev. Randy Koppen officiating. Interment will be in the Lake Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Arrangements are with the Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.
Connie Jean Sweere was born on June 22, 1955 in Wadena, Minnesota, the daughter of Lorraine Katherine (Tetrault) and Lyle Norton Grow. She grew up and received her education in the Wadena community, graduating from Wadena High School in 1973. Connie continued her education at Wadena Technical College. In the summer of 1974, she was married to Kevin John Sweere at the Catholic church in Wadena. They made their home in Wadena and Connie worked for Kennedy-Nervig Law Office for 17 years. In 1991, she moved with her children to Spicer. Connie was employed at Schmidt, Thompson, Johnson and Moody Law Offices as a secretary. She went to work for the Rice Hospice Program in 2002, writing grants for Rice Hospice and Grief Center and also providing computer and secretarial support. Connie was an active member of the Cross Roads Community United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees and was a member of the church ladies aid and a Sunday School teacher. She loved being with family and friends, loved to spoil her grandchildren and just enjoyed life with a smile. Connie enjoyed walking, biking, shopping and going to the wonderful garage sales.
She is survived by three sons, Derek Sweere of Willmar, Brian (and Kelly) Sweere of Sunburg and Nick Sweere of Spicer. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Levi, Logan and Lexi Sweere; her mother, Lorraine Taggart of Wadena; her special friend, Mike Ritter of Willmar; one brother, Steve (and Naomi) Grow of Coon Rapids; two sisters, Joanne (and Donald) Line of Verndale and Cheryl (and Kirk) Scholz of Burnsville; three stepbrothers, Douglas (and Karen) Conn of Albert Lea, Jerry (and Char) Conn of Detroit Lakes and Michael (and Tammy) Conn of Red Lake Falls; one stepsister, Carol (and Jerry) Pounds of Blaine; and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends. Connie was preceded in death by her father (Lyle in 1964) and her grandparents.
