Corenne J. Brandt, age 90, of Willmar, died Thursday morning, September 15, at Bethesda Grand Senior Living in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, September 19, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Interment will be at Tripolis Lutheran Cemetery in rural Kandiyohi. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, September 18, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond and one hour prior to the services on Monday. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice.
Corenne Jean Brandt was May 25, 1926, on the family farm in rural Atwater, Minnesota, the daughter of Stanley and Orpha (Homan) Pickle. She grew up in the rural Atwater community, attended District 50 school and graduated from Atwater High School. On May 30, 1950 , she married Wallace Brandt at Harrison Community Presbyterian Church. Corenne worked for Dr. Jacob's office in Willmar, as a sales associate at Butter's and K-D's clothing stores in downtown Willmar and at the creamery in Kandiyohi. In 1960, Corenne and Wally moved to a farm in rural Raymond. They retired from farming in 1984 and moved into Raymond in 2012.
Corenne was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond, where she was active with the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Raymond Garden Club and Home Extension, and was a past 4-H leader. She loved flowers and especially enjoyed planting in the spring. She also enjoyed birds and crafting. She was an excellent baker and will be remembered for her donuts, plum pudding, lemon bars, fudge, eggplant and dark bread.
Corenne is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wally; her children, Brian (and Debi) Brandt of Raymond and Barb (and Cal) Freeman of Atwater; five grandchildren, Matt (and Nicole) Brandt, Ross (and Kayla) Brandt, Jill (and Adam) Stensrud, Chris (and Christy) Freeman, and Jeff (and Kari) Freeman; nine great-grandchildren, Kolby, Hunter, Madeline, Rylynn, Piper, Hayden, Cody, Caden, and Clara; two brothers, Elden (and Dorothy) Pickle of Atwater and Gary (and Dianne) Pickle of Litchfield; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
