Dale A. Anderson, age 80, of Atwater, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, Sept. 20, at his home in rural Atwater.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 24, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be private at a later date in Union Cemetery in Atwater. Military Honors will be provided by the Samstad-Jesnen American Legion Post 375 of Atwater. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 P.M. at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home and at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Dayle "Dale" Andrew Anderson was born on December 3, 1933, on the family farm near Atwater, Minnesota, the son of Clara (Christensen) and Clarence Anderson. He grew up on the family farm near Atwater and received his education in the Atwater schools, graduating from Atwater High School in 1952. Dale continued working on the family farm until he joined the Army in December of 1954. Dale return to Atwater after his discharge in December of 1956 and continued with farming. On June 18, 1960 he was married to Margaret E. Erickson at the Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi. They made their home in the Atwater area and continued to farm, Dale with growing crops and Maggie with her cattle. Dale farmed for over 57 years and was a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. He was a member of the Atwater American Legion, the Atwater Thrashers, which he hosted on his farm for 7 years. Dale loved being with family and friends, especially sharing his knowledge of farming and machines with is children and grandchildren. He enjoyed snowmobiling, restoring old tractors and just being a kid at heart.
Dale is survived by his wife, Margaret of Atwater, 2 children; Elaine Sietsema (and Mike Welle) of Atwater and Mike (and Jill) Anderson of Atwater. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren; Bryan Sietsema (and Sara Jacobson), David Sietsema (and Stacy Thielen) and Nolan Anderson, 2 great grandchildren; Bret Sietsema and Mila Sietsema, 1 brother, Mark Anderson of Atwater and 2 sisters; Janice Elafros of Princeton and Marvis Lyon of Phoenix, AZ, many nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clare Anderson and a sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson.
