Darlene Carol DeBoer, age 65, of Eden Prairie and formerly of Willmar, died Thursday afternoon, May 27, at her residence in Eden Prairie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, June 1, at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 PM on Monday, May 31, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Darlene was born on July 19, 1944, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Palmer and Alma (Odlund) Hanson. She grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1962. In 1963, she was married to Fred Mattson. They lived in the Willmar community and divorced in 1982. In 1985, Darlene was married to George DeBoer and they made their home in Wichita, Kansas and in 1992, they moved to Eden Prairie. She was employed at Erickson's Furniture while living in Willmar and for the past 18 years at Walmart in Eden Prairie. She enjoyed making dolls, garage sales, singing in the church choir, going for scenic drives with her husband and just being with her family.
She is survived by her husband, George; her four children, Jodi (and Greg) Garrison of Wills Point, TX., Cindy (and Doug) Gregersen of Big Lake, Troy (and Nancy) Mattson of Willmar and Aaron Mattson of Mulvane, KS; three step-children, Michael (and Jackie) DeBoer of Hastings, NE., Sheryl DeBoer of Springfield, MO., and Miriam (and Grayle) Leech of Breezy Point; 12 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Duane (and Barb) Hanson of Willmar and two sisters, Doris (and Chuck) Leaf of Aitkin and Beverly Hirman of Raymond, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dale Hanson; one sister, Shirley DeLosier and two siblings in infancy.
