David R. "Dave" and Mildred M. "Susie" Frank, ages 76 and 75 of Pennock, died Sunday evening, July 12, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Pennock.
Funeral services for Dave and Susie will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. Interment will be at East Norway Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Rice Rehabilitation Center in Willmar or the Norway Lake Lutheran Parishes in New London are preferred.
Dave was born on December 29, 1938, in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Herman and Clara (Nudahm) Frank. He grew up and received his education in the rural community of Marengo, Illinois and became engaged in farming with his family.
Susie was born on November 20, 1939, in DeKalb, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Vivian (Brockman) Lyle. She grew up and graduated high school in Genoa, Illinois and began working as a waitress and factory worker.
Dave and Susie were united in marriage on August 5, 1957 in Mississippi. They made their home in Marengo, Illinois where they farmed with David's brother, Herman and his wife, Marge. They grew tomatoes and carrots for Campbell's Soup. Dave also was employed in the construction business. In 1972, they moved to Minnesota and began farming near Brooten. Later they moved to a farm near Pennock where they have lived for the past 33 years. They raised produce and have developed a successful business known as Frank's Greenhouses in Spicer and Pennock. They appreciated the friendships made with their business and truly enjoyed serving their customers in many ways.
David's hobbies included woodworking, reading, old tractors, growing crops and flowers and building homes and furniture. Susie's hobbies included collecting antiques, traveling and visiting with family and friends.
Dave and Susie are survived by their five children, Deborah (and Phil) Jenniges of Glenwood, Robert (and Karen) Frank of Eden Valley, Michael (and Barb) Frank of Sunburg, Connie Callahan of Taylorsville, UT. and David Frank of Tuscon, AZ.; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is David's brother, Herman (and Marge) Frank of Dexter and Susie's sister-in-law, Betty Lyle of Genoa, IL., besides other relatives and friends.
They were preceded in death by their parents; one grandson, Benjamin Frank; Mildred's brother, Richard Lyle and David's sisters, Ruth, Florence, Joyce, Martha and Charlotte.
