David A. Clark, age 73, of Willmar, died Saturday morning, April 18, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville, Iowa, at a later date. Military Honors will be provided by the Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post #167 of Willmar. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church.
David Alexander Clark was born on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1936, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Dr. James and Arlene (Belding) Clark. He grew up and attended school in Estherville and graduated from Estherville High School. David was a restaurateur for many years, owning restaurants in Dallas, Texas, and Estherville, Spirit Lake and Lake Park, Iowa. On October 18, 1986, he married Jean Holles at Grace Episcopal Church in Estherville. Upon retirement in 1998, David and Jean moved to Willmar, Minnesota, where they owned and operated the Buchanan House Bed & Breakfast for five years. David also drove the #10 school bus for the Willmar Bus Company. David loved all music, especially blue grass and country western music. He also loved to play guitar, mandolin, banjo and autoharp. He enjoyed jogging, skiing, bowling, playing pool, sailing and fishing, and mostly participated in these events with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; a son, Ben (and Katie) Clark of Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Katie (and Chris) Quiring of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Brenda Eddy of West Des Moines, Iowa, Maggie (and Robert) Rappaport of Tucson, Arizona and Elly Clark of Willmar, Minnesota; and eight grandchildren, Jamie and Jarod Rappaport, Megan Eddy, Brady and Grace Clark, and Andy, Cale and Jordan Quiring. Also surviving are four brothers, Charles Clark of Sacramento, California, James (and Sue) Clark of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Neil (and Nancy) Clark of Arlington, Massachusetts, and Steven Clark of St. Paul, Minnesota; two sisters, Nancy (and Pete) Brown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Marcia Lipsom of Boston, Massachusetts; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
