David Cole

David LeRoy Cole, age 70, of Willmar, died unexpectedly Monday morning, Jan. 28, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar.

David LeRoy Cole was born on April 20, 1948, in Duluth, Minnesota.  He grew up in Duluth with his mother, Dorothy Engstrom and graduated from Duluth High School in 1966.  David served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1968.  Following his medical discharge, he was employed as a truck driver hauling sugar beets and grains for the Montevideo elevator until becoming physically handicapped in 1985.  In 1981, David was married to Mary Jo Schorn.  They lived throughout West Central Minnesota and were divorced in 1990.  His hobbies included Harley Davidson motorcycles, watching WWE and Star Trek, working on cars, dancing and listening to Elvis.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Mary Jo Schorn of Willmar; three children, Melissa Medina of Willmar, Travis Cole of Mankato and Shane Cole of Willmar; and ten grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
