David R. Fostervold, age 75, of Spicer, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, Dec. 14, in Spicer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be at Eagle Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Henderson-Lewis American Legion Post #545 of Spicer. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. www.petersonbrothers.com
David Ralph Fostervold was born on November 29, 1938, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Leif and Margrete (Emberland) Fostervold. He grew up in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School. David began his lifelong career as a mechanic at the age of 18. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany. On September 22, 1961, David was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Solberg and they made their home in North Carolina and later moved to Spicer. David was employed for over 57 years at Halvorson Company in Spicer and has been co-owner of Halvorson Company since 1992. David was an active businessman in the Spicer community. He was a 39 year member and past chief of the Spicer Fire Department, past commander of the Henderson-Lewis American Legion Post #545 in Spicer, and member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served as a past financial secretary. David will be remembered for his kind, gentle and loving personality. He enjoyed manicuring his yard and cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon of Spicer; three daughters, Kimberly (and Calvin) Robnik of New London, Linda (and Robert) Eisenreich of Kimball and Anne (and Michael) Cave of Melrose; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings, Dan (and Gloria) Fostervold of Atwater, Betty (and Gordon) Behm of Atwater and Nancy (and Todd) Halvorson of Spicer, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Allan in infancy.
