David Harold Johnson, age 54, of Willmar, died Friday, October 2, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 6, at the Svea Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Monday, October 5, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
David was born on December 28, 1954, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Harold and Millicent (Forsberg) Johnson. He grew up in the Svea community and was baptized and confirmed at Svea Lutheran Church. David graduated from Willmar High School and attended the Willmar Vo-Tech College. He has been engaged in farming his entire life with his father until recent years. David has been a life member of Svea Lutheran Church and served as an usher. He also was a volunteer with M.O.P.S. at the Evangelical Free Church. David enjoyed reading, hunting, bowling, snowmobiling and coffee time with his friends.
He is survived by his mother, Millicent of Willmar; five siblings, Rebecca Johnson of Lake Lillian, Deborah Johnson of Willmar, Jennifer Johnson of Spicer, Barbara (and Wayne) Stomberg of Renville and Douglas (and Teresa) Johnson of Willmar; two nieces, Stephanie (and Justin) Lewis of Rochester and Michelle Stomberg of Renville and one nephew, Matthew Johnson of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold in 2007 and his grandparents.
