David Kucera

David A. Kucera, age 71, of Willmar, died Saturday, December 6, at Rice Care Center in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar with Rev. Dennis Hier officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the HSC 682nd Engineers of the Willmar National Guard Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

David Allen Kucera was born September 6, 1937, in Minneapolis, the son of Joseph and Adell (Hippe) Kucera. He grew up and received his education in Minneapolis, attending Minneapolis Roosevelt High School . He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and earned his G.E.D. while in the service. In June, 1957, he married Audrey Peterson and they lived in Minneapolis and later moved to Willmar. On September 17, 1977, he married Verna Johnson and they made their home in Willmar. David worked as a carpenter in the Willmar area and later worked at the turkey barns for Jennie-O Foods until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed playing cribbage, hunting, fishing, woodworking and yardwork. He also enjoyed cooking, especially during his retirement years.

He is survived by a daughter, Vicky Williams of Moorhead; two stepsons, Dean Affeldt of Alexandria and Brent (and Deb) Affeldt of St. Cloud; two stepdaughters, Debra Klinghagen of Pennock and Sharon (and Dennis) Nack of Nelson; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, JoDel Johnson of St. Cloud and Carol (and Marvin) Miller of Red Wing and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verna in 2006; two sons, Ross Priebe and Larry Kucera; and a nephew, Leigh Johnson.
