David Robert Wohnoutka was born on July 13, 1969, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Diane (Malecek) Wohnoutka. He grew up in Spicer with a deep love for Green Lake. As a child, at every opportunity, David would ride his bike to the beach to swim. His love for nature was also apparent when he built forts and played "kick the can" in the neighborhood. David also had a zest for challenges like playing cards, solving puzzles and working with numbers. David graduated from New London-Spicer High School in 1987. In 1989, David began his career with MN-DOT, where he spent much of his time in construction and surveying working outside. After his day at work, David would enjoy more time outdoors: running, biking, rollerblading, walking, boating and gardening were among his favorites. His love for water surfaced when he took vacations with family and friends to the ocean; Jamaica, Mexico and Florida.
He married the love of his life, Victoria Knight on December 20, 2006, on a beautiful beach in Maui, Hawaii. They had a son, Chaz on April 9, 2008. David and his family continued to enjoy life at the lake: seeing friends at lone tree, taking family for boat rides and fishing with Chaz.
David was a wonderful father who played with Chaz everyday he was able. He had a great imagination as a child that drove back into play with Chaz and often his nieces and nephews. He graced this world with a contagious smile and a witty sense of humor and will be missed and remembered by friends, family and co-workers.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria of Spicer; one son, Chaz; his mother, Diane of Spicer; and five siblings, Perry Wohnoutka of Spicer, Terry (and Srey) Austin of Shoreview, Kim (and Chris) Straight of Killeen, TX., Mike (and Anna) Wohnoutka of Minneapolis and Gayle (and Ross) Brouwer of Willmar; fifteen nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; one sister, Denise and unborn child.
