Delores Munson

Delores M. Munson, age 80, of Sauk Rapids, formerly of Atwater, died Tuesday morning, June 27, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar.  Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Atwater.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home in Atwater.

Delores Marie Munson was born January 23, 1937, in Watkins, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Rose Ann (Maselter) Jones.  She grew up in the Watkins community and graduated from Cold Spring High School  in 1955.  On June 24, 1967, she married John Munson and they lived in Atwater for over 50 years.  Delores moved to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids in November 2016, where she made numerous new friends.

Delores was an active member of the Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi and later the Church of St. Mary in Willmar.  She spent many hours volunteering in the Atwater community and was especially active with the Atwater Block Nurse program.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, baking, playing games, and hosting family gatherings.  She also enjoyed playing Bingo and listening to music at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

She is survived by a son, Bradley (and Sandra) Munson of Sauk Rapids; a stepdaughter, Trisha (and Jerry) Huber of Prescott, WI; a son-in-law, Kurt Morse of Atwater, MN; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are a sister, Lorraine (and Marlyn) Johnson of Plymouth; a sister-in-law, Clara Jones; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 2012; a daughter, Wendy Morse in 2015; two brothers, William Jones, Jr. and Richard Jones; and a sister, Donna Hayenga.
