Delores A. Strey, age 80, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, Jan. 13, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. www.petersonbrothers.com
Delores Alma Carolyn Strey was born on January 12, 1933, in Paynesville, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles Ludwig and Alma Elene (Rood) Loven. She grew up in Pennock and graduated from Willmar High School in 1950. She received her teachers training at St. Cloud State University and then began teaching in Raymond. On August 6, 1955, Delores was united in marriage to Dennis D. Strey. They lived in Pennock and various other communities throughout Minnesota and moved to Spicer in 1980. Following Dennis's death in 1981, she returned to school to further her education. Delores was employed in banking in Pennock, Apple Valley and Lakeville. She later returned to Willmar and was employed in retail sales, working at Wallace's and Creeger's Coat Company in the Kandi Mall. Delores enjoyed painting, crafts and shopping.
She is survived by three children, Daryl (and Cammie) Strey of Eagan, Denise Strey of Willmar and DeAnn (and Michael) Stienessen of Willmar; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Daryn in 1995 and one sister, Shirley Loven-Espelien.
