Dennis Lalim

Dennis V. Lalim, age 99, of Willmar, passed away Tuesday morning, Mar. 10, at the Good Shepherd Home in Sauk Rapids.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, Mar. 16, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com

Dennis Vernon Lalim was born on September 20, 1920, in Maynard, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Mathilda (Kortgaard) Lalim.  He grew up and received his education in the rural Maynard community.  On September 30, 1942, Dennis was married to Idell Anding and they made their home on a farm near Maynard.  Dennis was engaged in farming for many years.  He was later employed at the John Deere Implement dealership in Clara City and Plews Manufacturing in Granite Falls.  In 1975, they moved to Willmar and he worked at Jennie-O Foods.  Following his retirement, Dennis served as a caretaker at the Lake Place Apartments in Willmar.  He was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church.  Dennis enjoyed riding his lawn mower, dancing, old time music, playing card games, visiting the area casinos, refinishing furniture, growing huge vegetable gardens and spending time with his family.  Dennis also enjoyed playing the accordion, harmonica and piano by ear.

He is survived by his six children, Ronald (and Kathy) Lalim of St. Cloud, Harlan (and Esther) of Montevideo, Richard (and Susan) Lalim of Nowthen, LaVonne (and Darrell) Gens of Renville, Sandra Lalim of Sartell and David (and Jane) Lalim of Williston, ND.; twenty grandchildren; forty-seven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Idell in 2016; one brother, Bert; four sisters, Dora, Melvina, Myrtle and Bernice; one great granddaughter, Angel Rose Chandler and one great great granddaughter, Emily Rose Shoutz.
