Dennis Mortimer

Dennis W. Mortimer, age 69, of Willmar, passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 28, at the Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital ER surrounded by his loving son and daughter-in-law.

Dennis Wayne Mortimer was born on June 20, 1952, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Murry and Catherine (Conner) Mortimer.  He grew up and received his education in Iowa.  In 1973, Dennis moved to Willmar.  He began working at Jennie-O Foods where he met his future wife, Mary Ornberg.  In June of 1974, they were united in marriage and made their home in Willmar.  This union was blessed with one son, Joseph.  Dennis later was employed as a dishwasher and in food prep at the Willmar Community College.  He enjoyed watching sports and visiting with people.

He is survived by his son, Joseph (and Rose) Mortimer of Litchfield; two grandchildren, Cody (and Joyce) Wilson of Moorhead and Courtney (and Matt) Webb of Atwater; three brothers, Joseph, Henry and Raymond and six sisters, Lizzy, Doris, Dianne, Laurie, Judy and Kathy, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary in 2008 and one brother, George.
