Dianne A. Wilmoth, age 62, of Willmar, died Wednesday evening, November 1, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester after a courageous 11 year battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 5 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance or the St. Mary's Foundation.
Dianne Agnes Wilmoth was born on December 31, 1943, in Willmar, the daughter of Marjorie Ann (Doyle) and Ralph A. Nelson. She grew up in the Willmar community, was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church and in 1961, graduated from Willmar High School. In 1965, she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in physical therapy. On May 15, 1971, she married H. Douglas Wilmoth in Willmar. She was a physical therapist at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park and later at Anaheim Memorial Hospital in Anaheim, California and St. Anthony Hospital in Denver, Colorado. In 1985, she moved to Willmar where she was the Director of Physical Therapy at Rice Memorial Hospital until her retirement in December 2005.
She was a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Minnesota State Board of Physical Therapists. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was involved in the Daughters of Isabella, Bell Choir, Secret Sis, Quilters Society, Girl Scouts and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was also active with the Relay for Life event and the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas; a daughter, Michelle Wilmoth (and special friend, Eric Spencer and his daughter, Sydney Spencer) of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Bruce (and Vilma) Nelson of Orlando, Florida and Dennis (and Maggie) Nelson of Glencoe; four sisters, Mary Doyle Nelson of Mankato, Deborah (and Dr. William) Sheehan of Willmar, Beckie (and Tim) Simenson of Willmar and Bobbie (and Todd) Mattison of Willmar; several nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
